Raw Nerve created a brand, website and marketing material based on a theme of recycling rubbish for the Deptford Design Festival 04, part of London Design Week. The festival identity was inspired by origami, the practice of transformation. The exhibition was hosted by the award winning Laban Dance Centre, the perfect symbol of transformation, situated on a former rubbish dump beside a creek. The origami animals featured in the designs inhabit the local area. Flyers and invites were printed on recycled paper and contained information about the event entitled ‘Re-use’ echoing the message of design helping to transform the environment. A hyperlink to the festival website contained instructions of how to transform the paper into origami creatures. This served to drive traffic to the website, and challenged the potential audience to get creative themselves. Origami experts were present at the opening night to transform invites into collectable objects, rather than throw away information.

The Prince’s Trust Urban Music Festival took place in May 2004. It attracted 35,000 fans to Earls Court to see perfoming artists from the UK and USA, including Dizzee Rascal, Jamelia, The Streets, Beyonce, Alicia Keys and the legendary Jay-Z. The event was subsequently televised on Channel 4. Raw Nerve created a fresh, vibrant and inclusive image of urban culture which was implemented across a range of media and promotional material in the run up to the festival. The Prince’s Trust, the UK’s leading charity for young people, founded the event to engage with more young people and to promote positive routes to success through urban-related activities. Raw Nerve has commenced the development of the brand for 2005.

The client wanted to consolidate the brand identities for each of its venues, and exploit the potential of the Internet. Raw Nerve undertook a comprehensive brand audit, in order to understand just what made each venue special.
